Hericium erinaceus belongs to the kingdom Fungi, the phylum Basidiomycota, the class Basidiomycetes, the order Polypores, the family Dentomycetes, and the fruiting body is used as medicine.

The fruiting body of Hericium erinaceus contains hericenone A, B, D, E, F, G, H, hericin, (9R, 10S, 12Z)-9, 10-dihydroxy- 8-oxo-12-octadecenoic acid [(9R, 10S, 12Z)-9,10-dihydroxy-8-oxo-12-octadecenoic acid], 3-hydroxy-4-(3,7-dimethyl hydroxy-5-oxo-2,6-octadienyl)-5-methoxy-benzo[1,2-c]furan-2-one [3-hydroxy-4-(3,7-dimethyl -5-oxo-2,6-octadienyl)-5-methoxybenzo[1,2-c]furan-2-one], plant lectin (lectin). The dry fruiting body contains protein, lipids, fiber and glucan. Pharmacological effects of Lion's Mane Mushroom Extract.
1. Enhance immune function: 55 days after syngeneic bone marrow transplantation, the immune function of the recipient mice was severely impaired. The ability of spleen cells to produce interleukin-2 (IL-2) and other cellular immune functions were significantly reduced. After continuous intraperitoneal injection of Hericium polysaccharide and thymosin for 15 days, the ability of mouse splenocytes to produce IL-2 and the stimulation of concanadin A (ConA) The proliferation response and mixed lymphocyte culture response were significantly enhanced. Intraperitoneal injection of Hericium polysaccharide into mice at 2 mg/mouse for 7 consecutive days can significantly improve the phagocytic function of mouse peritoneal macrophages; it can promote the production of hemolysin and increase the ability of humoral immunity. If mice are intraperitoneally injected with 2.88 mg/mouse for 8 consecutive days, the decrease in white blood cells caused by cyclophosphamide poisoning can be significantly counteracted, and the decrease rate is only half of that in the control group. Hericium polysaccharide has a strong proliferative effect on mouse thymocytes activated by ConA in vitro, can also promote the proliferation of spleen lymphocytes, and also has a synergistic effect on B cells stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS).
2. Anti-tumor effect: Sarcoma S180 cells were inoculated subcutaneously in the left front axilla of Swiss male mice, and then Hericium polysaccharide was taken orally at 50 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg, and 200 mg/kg, once a day for 7 days.
